Toronto – August 27, 2021 – UFCW Canada members have earned special recognition as a 2020 Thanks a Million recipient for their tireless efforts to help those in need by raising over $1 million to support the United Way’s work in local communities across the country.
“In these unprecedented times, the support of UFCW Canada members has been critical to improving the well-being of Canadians in need,” said United Way Centraide Canada President & CEO Dan Clement. “Your contributions have been vital in ensuring we are able to help our most vulnerable citizens throughout the pandemic.”
The award comes at a trying time for many Canadians who continue to struggle with the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“UFCW Canada members never cease to amaze with their resilience and generosity, especially in this time of uncertainty,” said UFCW Canada National President Paul Meinema. “By supporting the work of the United Way, we stand with Canadians who are struggling by letting them know they are not alone.”
The United Way is instrumental in helping communities across Canada address mental health, isolation, poverty, hunger, and domestic violence issues.
