UFCW assists Uber worker in getting reactivated

Toronto – April 23, 2024 – Ahmad F., a student and Uber worker is back on the platform after UFCW Canada stepped in to assist him in regaining his Uber account after it was unjustly deactivated due to a clerical error.

Ahmad, an international student in Canada, relying on the flexibility of the gig economy to support himself and his studies, was thrown into turmoil when he received a notification that his Uber account had been deactivated. Frustrated and unsure of where to turn, Ahmad reached out to UFCW Canada for assistance. Through UFCW Canada’s agreement with Uber Canada, drivers like Ahmad can access representation services from UFCW Canada to assist with account deactivations, licensing issues, background checks, and more.

With the help of Canada’s leading union, Ahmad was able to return to work and regain his financial stability.

“Thank you so much UFCW for helping me in getting my access back to my Uber account!” says Ahmad in a video statement. “[With UFCW Canada’s help] I now have my access and I can pay my bills. Thank you UFCW for being there.”
