Petroleum workers at Trans-Northern Pipelines Inc. join the union – UFCW 175 & 633

Richmond Hill, Ont. – February 24, 2022 – Workers at Trans-Northern Pipelines Inc. are the newest members to join UFCW 175 & 633 after a successful certification from the Canada Industrial Relations Board, which regulates federal industries such as oil and gas.

“These workers wanted to have a voice in deciding their working-conditions,” says UFCW 175 President Shawn Haggerty. “We’re happy to welcome them to the union and we will support them as they move towards making positive changes in their workplace.”

The new members work as Line Controllers monitoring the flow of oil and gas as it passes from Alberta through Ontario and into Quebec. Workers organized to address issues around job security, shift consistency, seniority rights, and more.
