Hospitality workers at Ramada Plaza join the union – UFCW 501

Montreal – July 22, 2021 – Hospitality workers at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham in Montreal, Quebec are the newest members to join UFCW 501 after a lengthy certification process.

The new members waited for over a year to have the Tribunal administratif du travail (TAT) render its decision on certifying the new bargaining unit. Throughout the uncertainty that included administrative delays and periods of unemployment due to pandemic restrictions the workers persevered and are ready to start first contract negotiations.

“We are proud to welcome these new members from the Ramada Plaza into our local union,” says UFCW 501 President Alain Lachaîne. “These new members can rely on our local union to provide them with all the tools they need to advance their demands and negotiate good working conditions through collective bargaining.”

The new bargaining unit at Ramada Plaza by Wyndham includes 30 members working as maintenance and reception staff.

UFCW Local 501 represents 19,000 union members working at more than 410 companies across Quebec and northern New Brunswick. To learn more about UFCW 501 and its outstanding work, visit the Local Union’s website.
