A Superstore Assistant Supervisor’s recent experience serves as a good reminder for all union members to check your contract and make sure you are being paid properly.
Superstore members who are promoted to an “Assistant Supervisor” position are supposed to earn .40 cents per hour above the top-rated person in their department, according to the contract.
However, a UFCW 247 member who became an Assistant Supervisor in January 2018 received the incorrect amount of pay.
After the union investigated and consulted with the company, the situation was corrected and the member was compensated, with an immediate $6.00/hour wage increase, and back pay of $14,200.
If you are an Assistant Supervisor or member, it’s always a good idea to check and make sure you’re being paid properly.
If you are not sure you are being paid properly, please check your contract, and if you still have questions, feel free to inquire further with your Shop Steward and/or Union Rep.
