Centennial Foods Ratify New Agreement

Strong wage increases and more paid personal days were among the gains achieved by UFCW 247 members at Centennial Foods during recent negotiations.

After 11 days of meetings, this three-year deal will significantly improve wages, benefits, and rights at work.

The negotiating committee was composed of members, Dave Cook (Driver), Cathy Galang (Production), Si Ng (Production), and Union Representative Mike Toal, and Director of Bargaining Dean Patriquin.

“Talks have been difficult at times,” said Dave Cook, union shop steward and bargaining committee member. “But we stayed committed and focussed on the things that matter most to our members and reached a deal we can confidently recommend.”

“The union negotiating committee made great strides and strong gains on behalf of our members at Centennial Foods” said Director of Bargaining Dean Patriquin. “I am proud of the engagement and work of our committee members in standing together.”

 Some highlights include:

  • Strong wage increases
  • NEW Personal Time Off (PTO) day
  • New Premiums for Saw Cutter, Driver Trainer, Lead Packer, and Meat Cutter 1
  • New Health Spending Account
  • Improvements to Vacation selection process and Bereavement Leave
  • Improvements to Union member protections and rights at work.

Union committee member Cathy Galang put it best when she said, “We are happy with what we’ve been able to achieve for you all,” and “One of the things I am most proud of is that we got something for everyone, not just one group.” she added.

Congratulations to the members at Centennial Foods on their new contract.
