Superstore Update: Wage and 30hr Guarantee Implementation

On July 3, 2026, UFCW Local 247 members at BC Superstore and Distribution Centres voted to ratify a new collective agreement by a margin of 87%.

Since then, our union representatives have been working towards implementing the changes to the agreement. This often takes some time, as payroll and other systems need to be adjusted on the employer’s end. Some of these changes are simple, while others are not.

Here are some changes with their expected implementation dates:

Wage Increases

New pay rates and changes to wage scales have been loaded into the employer’s payroll system.

These new rates will be effective July 5, 2026. All hours worked during the July 5-18, 2026, pay period will be at the new rates of pay.

Wage increases will appear on the pay deposit scheduled for July 23, 2026.

Be sure to check your pay statement to ensure you receive the correct rate of pay. Should you notice an issue with your rate of pay, please immediately raise this with your Store Admin. Should have a question or concern about your pay, please contact your UFCW Local 247 Union Representative for guidance.

30-hour guarantee

The company has started the process of identifying members who are eligible for the 30-hour guarantee. Consistent with the new collective agreement, the 30-hour guarantee is to be offered to all members who were entitled to the 28-hour guarantee at ratification. To determine this, they will be using the schedule for the week ending July 11, 2026.

Starting on August 4, 2026, the company will begin canvassing eligible members.

Members will receive a form and will have 14 days to submit to the Employer. A copy of the form is available here.

We can’t stress enough how important it is to get this form in on time.

It is expected that the 30-hour guarantee will come into effect on the schedule covering August 16-22, 2026.

** Note: Those eligible members who are currently on an approved Leave of Absence must speak with their Department Manager upon return to request the 30-hour Guarantee Form. **

Updated Collective Agreement

With so many changes to the collective agreement as a result of the bargaining process, it takes time for both sides to review and adjust the language, scales, and other amendments. We are currently working through this process with the employer.

Once your new collective agreement is available, it will be posted to our website at ufcw247.com and sent by email to all members.

As always, we will print a number of copies for those who prefer print copies of the agreement. When the new agreement is ready and print versions are available, members will be advised and can request a copy through their UFCW Local 247 Union Representative.

We will continue to share implementation updates over the coming weeks.

Should you ever have a concern or question about the new collective agreement, please contact your UFCW Local 247 Union Representative.
