Superstore & DC Members Ratify New Agreement

UFCW Local 247 members working at Loblaw Superstores and Distribution Centres across BC have voted overwhelmingly in favour of accepting a new tentative agreement with their employer.

The tentative agreement was accepted by the membership by 87.4%.

“With the largest and most representative bargaining team we’ve ever had, we fought hard for this tentative agreement and worked tirelessly to ensure members were engaged, informed, and involved along the way,” wrote the UFCW Local 247 bargaining committee in a statement.

“The result is an agreement that we believe is not only an excellent deal; it will give more money to more members much sooner.”

The details of the agreement were shared with members by email, on the union’s website, and in one-on-one conversations with members in their workplaces.

“This agreement was truly member-driven,” said UFCW Local 247 President Dan Goodman. “We’re proud of the agreement, and we’re even more proud of the hard work of UFCW 247 members to get us there. From our steadfast and committed bargaining committee to the members who completed a survey, wore a button at work, and stayed connected to the process all along the way, this achievement belongs to the members.”
