A lot can happen in 23 years and a lot has. We have lost other colleagues that were dear to us. Life can be like that and life is often about loss, however you should not live in or dwell on the past. Life is also often about change.
So what will change for Local 247, will things be different? In many cases yes, Dan and I will do things differently but the things that work will remain the same. What can you expect to see this year? For starters we have territory changes for the staff and we have set all the Executive Board and general membership meetings for the entire year. We will do this every year. There will be more changes to come as we plan for this year and future years.
I am proud to say that we have an excellent staff and they will represent you to the very best of their ability. I will not promise you ever, that you are always going to like our answers or the outcome of your grievance but you will receive representation and the full attention of our staff.
I do want to thank our executive board for their unanimous approval of myself as President and Dan as Secretary-Treasurer. We look forward very much to continuing to work with them and to continue to make positive changes to Local 247.
President's Welcome
You may have noticed a few recent changes that have taken place in local 247, specifically the changes in title for me and Dan Goodman. The reason for this is because President Gib Whitlock passed away on November 12, 2010. I first met Gib in 1987 and started working for him full time in 1994. He was my friend as well as my employer and I would not be in this position now, if it hadn't been for him and for all of his support over those years.
