Overwaitea Bargaining Dates Confirmed

Bargaining Begins

Our first bargaining session with the Employer were held on May 5^th and 6^th. Present for the Company were:

Major Brar
Art Van Pelt
Heidi Ferriman- May 5th
Steve Moriarity
Sally Simpson – May 6^th

The Union presented its complete proposal package on the first day and the Company responded with questions and clarifications. Much of the second day was spent on a power point presentation by the Company on the state of the Grocery Industry and Overwaitea’s position as the “little guy”. The Company also presented a number of discussion topics as opposed to traditional proposals.

Your Bargaining Committee

Below are the UFCW 247 members who make up the Negotiating Committee. Laurie Orr

My name is Laurie Orr. I've worked at Save-On Foods for 34 years as a meat cutter. I have been an active shop steward since 1985 and a member of the bargaining committee since 1993.

Linda Cripps

My name is Linda Cripps. I am the head meat wrapper at Pentiction store #962. I became a member of UFCW Local 2000 in 1979 as a Woodwards employee and then went to Overwaitea and now Save-On Foods.

Guy Fraser

My name is Guy Fraser. I have been at Save-On Foods for 22 years and have been a long serving shop steward and bargaining committee member. I believe that organized labour plays an important role in providing social
justice for all.

Reg Goddard

My name is James "Reg" Goddard. I am a shop steward at Save-On Foods store #903. I have sat on the bargaining committee since 1993 and I was involved in the organizing drive at J&L Meats back in 1992.
