PRESS RELEASE: DECEMBER 08, 2011

Jump To:

To all fulltime members employed at Western Grocers Distribution Centres.

As many of you may be aware, a grievance was filed with respect to the hours worked during a week which included a statutory holiday. Through the course of the grievance and subsequent arbitration it was discovered that fulltime employees were improperly paid if they had worked on the actual statutory holiday.

This was a difficult issue to resolve and reconcile.
Ultimately the Union has succeeded the Grievance and has won a settlement and award representing approximately $60,000.00.

For those individuals at the Marine Drive 1935 (1908) who worked on a statutory holiday November 26 2007 through to December 31 2008 you should be seeing a Union Settlement amount on your next pay.

For those individual at the Pitt Meadows 1932, due to issues with retrieving completed master schedules and payroll reconciliation sheets, a total of 1009 hours will be divided amongst all employees who were fulltime between November 26 2007 and December 31 2008.

If you have any questions regarding the amount you have received, please contact the Union office and ask to speak with Eric Seto.
