Nothing can prepare you for the shock of learning your child or loved one has been diagnosed with cancer.

Cancer is a frightening, life-changing event, and UFCW's fundraising efforts with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of BC have been all about working to spare parents and family from ever having to hear that dreaded diagnosis.

In 2017, the UFCW in BC once again was among the very top fundraisers for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLSC), and they honoured UFCW Local 247's efforts with a beautiful glass plaque. Leuk. plaque-Nov. 28, 2017

"Survival rates for these blood-borne cancers have improved considerably over the last 25 years or so," says Dan Goodman, UFCW Local 247 Secretary-Treasurer, "but there is still a long, long way to go, and we'll continue to be out there raising money to fight these brutal diseases."

"We really appreciate that the funds we raise here in BC stay here in BC for research," says Goodman. "We're fortunate here in BC that we have some of the top research facilities and doctors doing tremendous work to try and wipe out these diseases."
