UFCW Local 247 members met in Burnaby November 20-21 to review and discuss proposals for the upcoming round of negotiations with Safeway-Sobeys. Suzanne Hodge and Dan Goodman

"We had a couple very good days talking about the contract improvements members want to bring to the bargaining table," said Suzanne Hodge, president of UFCW Local 247. "We reviewed the proposals that members submitted in every area of the contract, and are looking forward to getting to the bargaining table with the employer."

At this time, no dates have been set to begin negotiations, and this information will be posted on Safeway bargaining conference, Nov. 20-21ufcw247.com as soon as it is available. Union members are asked to watch the union's website for the latest information on negotiations.

"We had presentations on Final Offer Selection arbitration and the pension plan, and it's terrific to be able to have extended conversations with the members and get feedback on what really matters," says Hodge. "Contract negotiations are an opportunity, and while we don't anticipate negotiations will begin until the new year, we'll be continuing to prepare for what promises to be an important round of negotiations."
