Why Labour Day matters - Labour Day events across B.C.

For many of us, Labour Day is a long weekend for bbqs, family get-togethers, parties, getaways, and marking the unofficial end of summer.

However, Labour Day also reminds us of the work and struggles of ordinary working people throughout history, who often at great personal sacrifice, fought for the rights to fair wages, safe workplaces, and dignity for workers who perform the everyday jobs that keep our world running.

For a terrific look at the history of workers in B.C., check out this series of short videos called "Working People: A History of Labour in British Columbia", co-produced by the Knowledge Network and Labour Heritage Society.
