Company rejects arbitration. Strike at Lakeside Packers starts tomorrow morning! ...

Stereotypes about Unions suggest that we just want to go on strike. At Lakeside Packers in Brooks the Union has forcefully argued that binding arbitration would be in everyone's interest. Packing house strikes are often characterized by extreme emotion and in this case a strike at Lakeside would have a serious negative effect on the community and the beef industry. The Company has rejected the Union's suggestion that a strike be avoided by submitting all outstanding issues to a well known Alberta arbitrator. The Company has offered no explanation for its rejection of arbitration and if there was any doubt in the past it is now clear that American known Tyson Foods Lakeside Packers is turning its own workers, community of Brooks and the entire beef industry into its victims.
