Progress Slow and Steady for RCSS/Western Grocers Bargaining

Two more days at the bargaining table for the negotiating committee representing Real Canadian Superstore, Western Grocers and Corporate Extra Foods members has resulted in a lot of back and forth with the Company, a lot of questions, and a lot of waiting. While some progress has been made, most of the more complex issues are still being hashed out as to their potential impact by both sides. One of the hot topics is the effect the greater number of U-Scan tills has had on the members assigned in those areas. The two sides have agreed to form a sub-committee to find common ground on the issue. The retail discussions will continue on June 17 with the 18th and 19th being devoted to the Distribution Centers.
