IGA Negotiations a Waiting Game

Meetings held with IGA on April 15th can best be described as "Hurry up and wait." With the assistance of mediator- Mr. Mark Atkinson, a joint meeting was held with Local 1518 and at the end of the day both Locals informed the Company that they would respond to the Company's last position on April 16th in the morning. Much of the day was spent with the mediator attempting to bridge the gap both locals had between the last position tabled and what the respective negotiating committee's deemed to be a fair and reasonable settlement. "I think either way we'll be going back to out members sometime soon and asking for their support to ratify a deal or reject something if the Company doesn't see fit to change their last offer," commented Local 247 Director of Bargaining Dan Goodman.

First contract negotiations are also underway for a main store and TLE in Hull, Québec, and for a Walmart main store location in Weyburn, Saskatchewan.
