Tentative agreement reached with Sobeys in Manitoba

The bargaining committee representing roughly 2,200 workers at Safeway stores across Manitoba reached a tentative agreement on March 17, 2018, with Sobeys West Inc.

“This round of bargaining was unlike any other I’ve ever had in my years here at Local 832,” said Jeff Traeger. “I want to give thanks to our membership for giving us our 98% strike mandate which helped to move the company off of many of their major concessions, and the bargaining committee who did an amazing job of holding the line for the 2,200 Safeway workers in Manitoba.”

Details of the tentative agreement in Manitoba will be presented to members in that province on Sunday, March 25, and where the bargaining committee will be recommending that the membership accept the tentative agreement reached with the company.
