Founder of the Vancouver Shoe Memorial, Pat Kelln, passed away

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Pat Kelln, the founder of the Vancouver Shoe Memorial.

Pat started the Shoe Memorial 15 years ago, to bring awareness & education to the public and to help put an end to violence against women. The memorial displays the names of all the Women who have lost their lives to violence, so they can be remembered and honored, and a pair of shoes are displayed to represent each of their lives to provide the visual impact of how many lives have been lost. UFCW Local 247 first joined Pat and the Vancouver Shoe Memorial 5 years ago, and together with the help of UFCW Locals across Canada, have helped make Pat’s dream of making it a National event come true. We will keep Pat’s dream alive and continue the annual Shoe memorial on December 6, Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Pat will be deeply missed.

Our condolences to her husband John and their family.
